Creekside Cafe: Fixing a Broken Website for a Prince Edward County Staple

A complete technical and visual fix for a Wellington brunch spot—replacing a cluttered, unreadable site with a clean, responsive, and mobile-friendly experience.

The Challenge

Creekside Cafe is a local favorite, but their website was a total disaster. It was the result of three different designers working in silos, leaving behind a "Frankenstein" site that was ugly, distracting, and completely non-functional. The biggest issue was the menu: it was trapped in tiny, static PDF files that were impossible to read on a phone. For a busy brunch spot in a high-traffic tourist town, this was a massive barrier to customers trying to find a place to eat.

The Solution

I stepped in to clean up the "design by committee" mess and build a site that actually functions for a high-volume restaurant. I unified the brand with a clean, beachy aesthetic using curated photography and creative copywriting that focuses on their local food suppliers. Most importantly, I solved the "PDF Friction" by moving them away from static menu files to a Wix Studio Responsive Menu System, making their offerings instantly readable and searchable on any device. I prioritized Mobile-First usability and Foundational SEO to capture local tourism traffic.

The Result

The result is a digital "front door" that finally matches the quality of the cafe. By killing the PDF menus and fixing the visual clutter, the site is now a useful tool for customers instead of a source of frustration. Even though I was eventually locked out of the site's backend by the client, the work I delivered provided a massive improvement in accessibility, search visibility, and professional authority for the business.
